How is the glass underneath? Polished? Sharp? Have you had any problems?

no problems at all. The glass edge was smooth on my two tanks. I decided to
repair a couple of broken 10's when I came across some free glass. I just
slid a sharp knife under the edge and cut the seam and then simply pulled up
on one end and then the other. It came of relatively easy. The trim does not
provide any actual structural support and is more for looks than anything
else.
