Then they dry it.
This oxidizes the NH4 and urea to NO3.
It's faster than waiting for the bacteria to accomplish this.
It leeches some nutrients out, but it's still fairly rich. <<

OK, I'll try it Tom the next time I set up a new tank, but all I can say is
YUCK!  A pot of boiling mud, my nephew would think it was brownies!
