The stomata are located on the bottom of leaves which are typically cupped
therefore well able to collect rising gas(O2 and CO2 etc) with good
cilculation in the lower reaches.Stomata are where the leaves allow CO2 in
and O2 out. The thicket cuticle in some species will not allow CO2 through
this layer and therefore can only come in through the stomata for gas
exchange.

Does it matter a great deal? Not too much if you have good even circulation
but it might help a little.
