Check out www.lilyblooms.com for Black Japanese Trapdoor snails (viviparis
malleatus). They don't like it really cold (below 60F) or too hot (above
82F) but they
are great to watch cruising the front glass of a tank. In
summer you can keep them in outdoor ponds but you will
need to overwinter in tanks due to NE temps. Provide a
sandy bottom in the tank for them to burrow (about an inch deep) to produce
babies. The male has a shorter right
horn, to differentiate it from the female. Great manufacturers of infusoria!
