Re: [APD] Re: The Art of Lighting a BowfrontTank or - the Arc ofLighting

This might seem nuts but I've been thinking a lot lately about these tanks
and I have an outrageous solution. Reading the post I was thinking to
myself, all lights are width-wise in a tank, usually the entire width or
maybe 2x half the width. I wonder if anyone has done a depth-wise light
scheme, where the light fixtures are front to back on top of the tank? I
know working on the tank would be a pain, but maybe something could be
worked on in the meantime, I have a floor lamp next to mine that provides
light when I'm working on the tank. I don't know the specifics of smaller
bulbs, but one that would fit my 18" deep tank (48x18x24" All-Glass 90G),
use maybe one of those every 5" or so, there'd be about 5 of them. Or even
perhaps closer together! In a bowfront this would allow you to stagger them
beacuse at the ends of the tank they'd be full depth, front to back, but in
the middle you could put one closer to the front, one closer to the rear and
just stagger. It'd be a _lot_ more wiring, but I just wondered, wiring
aside what's the downside to this? If you were really savvy you could turn
off a few at a time to simulate a pretty nice, gradual sunrise/sunset ;-)
