[APD] Amano Shrimp & Fertilizers

Hi all,

A 6th-grade friend of mine  is working on a report for school and has a 
question for a fish expert.  She would like to know if the plant fertilizers 
you use in your aquariums affect your amano shrimp in any way?  She wants to 
know if the fertilizers cause any shedding problems for the shrimp?  Does it 
kill them or do they seem to live shorter than average lives?  She read that 
the heavy metals in fertilizers could affect the amano's ability to shed?  
Do you have any first hand information on this or have heard anyone at your 
fish club express anything similar?
