I don't think so. You should be able to use stock PVC
compression fittings. They might not have them at Home
Depot, but one of the on-line plumbing supply joints ought
to have them.
Look around this page full of PVC compresson fittings or
look for other suppliers:

Just remember, the light tubes weren't made to take a lot
of compression -- you only want enough squeeze to make a
seal ;-)
