[APD] RE: Water Temp/Chillers?

We had a similar problem in my husbands 10 gallon tank, which has 30 barely 
vented watts sitting directly on the cover glass. Our solution was to turn 
off the heater in the tank. This allows the tank to get cooler at night when 
the lights are off, so when it heats up during the day, it doesn't get as 
hot. The fish don't seem to mind the temp swings - after all, streams and 
smaller ponds in nature do this too.
