RE: [APD] Acrillite from Walmart? - Bill

Scott, both products are calcined clays that have a high cec rating
(33) which promotes good root growth. Turface MVP (used mainly on baseball
diamonds)is more irregular in size/shape and comes in 50lb bags while
Profile
clay soil conditioner is smaller and more uniform in size/shape and is
offered
in 40lb bags. I bought 2 bags of profile clay soil conditioner from a Maine
Wal-Mart for $1.65 each at the end of the season (early fall). It's light
brown
or tan in color and needs to be mixed with darker material, my opinion, to
make
a more natural looking substrate. Original Fluorite is almost dead-center
for the
color I'm after, and makes my killifishes' colors stand out. There are
enumerous
posts about Turface/Profile in the APD archives. It is definitely an
improvement
over plain gravel.

HTH,

Bill

Bill,

I am not familiar with those. Can you tell me a little about them?

Scott

Scott, Turface or Profile clay soil conditioner would be much cheaper: $10
or so
for 40lb bag. If you're going to pay $6.97 for 10lbs, you may as well ramp
up to
Fluorite and have it all: nutrients, nice color, better plant growth.
