Re: [APD] Eheim 2227 - Need very fine filter pad

You can get felt filter material -- a fw diff manufacturers
sell this kind of material, including Amiracle and Emperor
Aquatics, which makes a 100 micron and 50 micron versions.
I think this stuff is usually used as a drip pad in wet/dry
filters, where it can easily be changed.

One place that sells this is here:

Or you can go and get some white felt from a yardage store.

Fine filtering material like this might need to be changed
as often as every few days depending on how fine it is and
how much particulate matter is in your tank. This is a
reason for not using it in a canister.

You might be better off running a diatom filter once in a
while or Marineland canister with a micron cartride.

Also, you can try reducing the fish load/fish-food doses or
removing driftwood or whatever you think is the likely
source of the "excess" detritus.

Also, you can try squeezing in more floss, as you put in
more and cause it to be more densely packed, it filters
more finely. But note that whatever yo do to filter more
finely will mean that the media will need to be changed
much more often as it will load up and reduce water flow
more quickly than other materials.

Hope that helps,
