As the bulb gets cooler, less of the mercury is vaporized
and the gas in the bulb carries the current less well =
less light output.

An individual model of bulb is made to work within a range
of temps, usually around 100F-120F or roughly that
neighborhood.

As the temp goes up, they light a bit better but burn out
faster.
