Here's a novel approach to making your plants red. Pot them in soil so that
they have plenty of phosphorus available and ensure that the tank growth is
nitrate limited. Reducing nitrogen will reduce the amount of chlorophyll &
permit red pigments to be more visible. If the plants are brownish in colour
to begin with, I'm not sure that reducing the green pigments would do much
to make it redder. I suppose its possible.
