Maybe depends on the species of Ancistrus. I have several healthy looking 
bunches of hairgrass (except for a algea infestation), and one big mother of 
a Ancistrus and he (she?) has not touched any of them. I have done the 
mowing myself in an experiment to see how the grass would look like (and how 
it would hold up) if I kept it trimmed to 3 cm high.
