[APD] RE: ecocomplete

Thanks for all the good advice.. I decided to go with the onyx sand. I
ordered it today. 
????My tap has ph of 7.8 and kh of 9. I plan to use flourish
excel for a carbon source and low light plants. I am not sure, but from
what I understand.. exel will not lower the ph, like using a co2 system
would. ( Am I getting any of this right?)   Is the Excel carbon avaiable
to the plants no mater what the ph is???  Should I add peat under the
sand?
