  I have heard that Florida is a rough place to cycle.  People in 
Mississippi tell me that there are more people in Florida that would 
just as soon run over you as look at you than there are in most other 
states.  This is not to say that other states are all that great.  A 
homicidal driver  in Boston once chased me right up on the sidewalk, 
and here in Mississippi, someone tried to run me off the road about a 
year ago.  People scream at me, throw things at me (they always have 
missed), or just try to scare the bejezus out of me.  Some people are 
no better than their dogs.  They just go bananas when they see a 
cyclist.
