Re Nitrate test kits

Before anyone shouts me down, I've just realised that the units in my last 
post should be mg/l (or ppm) not mg/ml. Anyway it seems that the general 
broad-range nitrate test kits are inadequate for measuring nitrate levels in 
planted aquaria, even within the 'ranges' suggested by Mr. Barr.
