This is a bit off topic, but since a few folks have talked about the specter 
of human-caused global warming, it might be informative to read this article 
from the Philadelphia Inquirer of December 8.

Some say that the buildup of CO2 will cause the earth to warm to unhealthy
and potentially catastrophic levels at some point in the future.   Others 
believe that natural forces will offset that and there will be little 
significant change.  And others think that we are in a cyclical warm period, 
CO2 buildup or otherwise, which will be followed by the next ice age.

And some on the left see this issue as a chance to reform society, at least 
to what they think it should be.  

So you pays your money and you takes your choice.
