Electronic ballast data point

I use conventional 18", 24" and 48" fluorescent tubes over
all my tanks (hey the tubes are cheap and easy to find
up here in the acrtic tundra) but anywhere in the
house I can screw in an electronic ballasted fluorescent
replacement for an incandescent bulb, I've done that.

While some of them little fluorescent tubes have come and
gone not one ballast has failed yet - and some are 12 years
old. Contrast this to the 50% (2 our of 4) over 1 year failure
rate with the el cheapup "shop light" 48 inch fixtures I
stupidly bought.

I realize this doesn't mean much compared to 96W jobs
in a aquarium hood...
