You're best bet would either to be a smaller power filter and you can hide
the intake tube w/ plants, driftwood and rocks or just a small powerhead or
fountain pump.  Something that moves around 100gph would be quite small and
provide enough movement.

If you want to get tricky you could have a 10 gallon tank with bulkhead
fittings and an external "sump" tank.  More or less a small 1-3 gallon
container behind the main tank that has a small pump, heater and has some
filter media.
