Pearling dirt?

I wrote a while ago how I thjought I had the grey
slime again and how the UV wasn't working that time. 
The werid thing was that it didn't show up nearly to
the extent it did 8 months ago.  All you could see was
some bubbles on the edges of leaves where they
shouldn't be and on roots and so on.  Now I'm not so
sure the slime was ever there the second time around. 
Now that I look at it more, it just looks like
pearling dirt.  The tank is a bit messy as the Eheim
needs to be cleaned out.  How could dirt be pearling? 
Are they oxygen bubbles?  ???
