When my kids were little they had a set of transparent plastic pipes that 
gerbils and hamsters could crawl through.  How about if these were run 
through a well planted tank?

Imagine viewing a school of giant danios darting in the current with a 
hamster shuffling by in the background on his afternoon stroll!  Truly 
amazing!

Bill,
You could easily make this with clear PVC pipe and fittings. Wouldn't be 
cheap, though.
