Paint for inside of hood--Marine commments

RE Marine paint. Marine paint differs from other paints usually in two
ways. It is less hard. This does not mean less durable; it means that
it can withstand more movement (shrinkage and expansion of wood due to
the more extreme changes in outside temperatures and especially
humidity) without cracking. It's more flexible, less brittle. It
scratches less easily than a more brittle paint but it gouges more
easily, other things being equal.

It also usually has more UV barrier in it to protect against the brutal
damage that UV wreaks on paint. If you ever varnished on the exterior
of a boat, you know how quickly all your work turns to waste. Only mad
dogs and Englishman . . .
