I bought a couple of lotus pods from the dried flowers section at Michaels
(a craft store). There's probably 50 seeds amongst them, and I want to see
if I can get some to germinate. Do I just need to nick the seed coats with
a file? Or steep them in boiling water (don't laugh; this is how you
scarify hard-coated tropical legumes)? Or do I need to wear away much of
the seed coat with sandpaper?
I figure I'll put a few seeds in a bowl of mud, a couple of inches of water
on top, and put under my grow lights where it's warm. Does this sound
about right? Thanks.
