I reply:

I don't think 6 hours is long enough. A glass of pop takes more than 6
hours to go completely flat. If there is no agitation it takes quite a
while. If you aereate for just a few minutes it will quickly reach
equilibrium. Also if you shake up the sample let it sit for a few
minutes and then repeat you only have to do it a few times before
equilibrium is reached. It's more fun to do the aereation method as you
can see the pH change before your eyes.
