Thank you to those who wrote suggesting the bait and remove method of reducing snail populations.  I can't imagine how I forgot about this...I must be getting old.

Actually, I found Jicama to be the perfect vegetable for this purpose.  Its firm, white flesh holds together well, and it is irresistible to snails.  I use to grow enormous Golden Apple snails using it.

I think I will stick to baiting snails from now on.
