No, granite is not limestone based. It contains
feldspar, quartz, hornblende, and various other
crystals that are inert and safe for our use. I use
it, and so does Amano. See his Riccia method in Book
#1. 

Granite is beautiful rock. If anyone ever comes to
Delaware, you should check out the blue gneiss that
litters our creek beds and hillsides. Pretty cool blue
rock that has tiny crystals. It is blinding if the sun
hits it just right.....
