More on bacteria

In my continuing fascination with jump-starting tanks...
Tomorrow I am going to San Francisco & will be buying a new filter with my 
sister-in-law to start up her 60 gallon tank. I'd like to take a bag of 
scummy used filter floss down with me. Will everything be okay if I take it 
out of the filter Friday morning and keep it in a baggie until Saturday 
afternoon or evening, or will bad things grow and good things die?
