I have a Vortex XL-1 (i think that's right, it is the big one) filter and it 
is worth every penny I spent.  Green water in a 55 prompted its 
purchase...and it took maybe 2 hours for the water to be perfectly clear.  I 
hadn't thought of using it right after maintenance (though that now seems 
obvious), but it should do that too in even less time.  I'd recommend it to 
anyone who thinks that such a device MIGHT be the tiniest bit useful. I find 
mine to be terribly useful (just try not to tear the filter bag...as I found 
the hard way).
