Re: Aquatic Plants Digest V4 #1369

 Billinet at aol_com asked:
"Has the keeping of aquatic plants been simplified to the point where
all one needs is a good CO2 diffuser?"

There was a discussion in early September, perhaps beginning in August,
regarding the "rules" or brief statements of the various methods that
work for keeping plants. The methods (or techniques) comprised too
many variables to be "codified" or written down as "rules of thumb"
except in very general ways. Apparently, aquatic gardening has not
been simplified even to what kind of water to use in tanks with plants.
But don't let that stop you jumping right in (figuratively speaking).
There are lots of different ways to do it successfully and happily.

Relatively trouble-free garden tanks can be set up which don't require
a lot of expensive equipment or an inordinate amount of maintenance.
If you don't want to get very technical, then you might not enjoy Diane
Walstad's excellent treatise on aquatic gardening (although I can't
really imagine any aquatic gardener that wouldn't enjoy her book)--but
it is a great place to start, especially if you would like to keep
things simple and not spend a small fortune on equipment. ;-)
