Absolutely right. PC bulbs AND T8 bulbs are designed to keep their (design)
lumen output constant for their entire life. Changing them before they die is
a plain waste. T12's are a different matter. It's not a problem with the
phosphors afaik but an effect related to the ageing electrodes. Triton T12
bulbs use a proprietary technology that protects the electrodes from premature
wear thus they seem to be able to keep a more even lumen output along their
life. I believe a similar technique is used in VHO bulbs. Even with that
electrode protection in place, though, they tend to loose their lumen output
a lot faster than any other fluorescent bulb type. It's outdated technology
anyway.
