Could the differences in FFF behavior be symptomatic of the TWO known FFF spawning modes? I believe that FFF are known to spawn in typical plant-spawning killifish mode (non-aggressive, plant-spawners) as well as CICHLID mode ( males stake out a territory and build a nest, protecting the nest until eggs hatch).
