Wayne asked about discus and his water which is a little on the hard
side for discus. I would try them. You certainly would be able to
raise them and maintain them in your water. When they pair off after 1
to 11/2 years, see if the eggs remain fertile. Then you will know. Try
to keep your water around 82-84 degrees and keep the tank clean and the
water changed frequently. In my experience, they do seem happy with
plants.
