Nitellla

All

I got some Nitella in a local Aquarium show auction last weekend and am
wondering if anyone might share what they know about this plant. I
understand that it is a form of algae, there are several native spp., and
that it can sometimes be "temperamental" about how it takes to different
aquariums. Do I need to keep it cool? When I first looked at it I thought
I'd gotten some form of Utricularia. It seems to make a nice semi-dense mat
at the surface, is pale green in color and also has the side benefit of
letting lots of light through to the rest of the tank. What surprised me is
the presence of small nodules at regular intervals down the "stem"; at
points where the "stem" branches, hence my thinking about
Bladderworts.......... Anyone?
