According to a bit in the October 2000 issue of AFM (pg.2), the American Pet
Products Manufacturers Association estimated (via a survey) that
approximately 1 in 10 U.S. families keep fish as pets. According to the
article, that represents an 18% drop since 1996. They blame the decline on
the increasing presence of computers - teenagers would rather play computer
games than look after an aquarium.
