They all have some positive action according to the British study:
http://www.execpc.com/~aqsys/barley.html but the Brits suggest to get the
same result you need to use greater quantities.  In addition, I read
somewhere that wheat straw when it bio-degrades, releases lots of phosphate
compared to Barley straw.  This extra phosphate may work against the
anti-algae action of the straw.
