Also, being a newbie, and not a chemist, could someone please take to time
to list the various applicable symbols such as NO3, PO4 etc and what they
represent. A list of those applicable to aquatic plants and fish would be
greatly appreciated.

You will find a complete table of the elements in any good dictionary along
with their atomic number and weight. Just look up the word element.
