Lighting Question

Several months ago, I ordered 2 Nutrigrow plant lamps, but the
company(Coralife), accidentally sent one Actinic blue lamp, and one of
the kind I had requested. I used the Actinic for a while, and nothing
seemed to grow. I had 84 watts going into a 45 gallon tank. I used
several types of supplements, and then my tank crashed( massive free
floating alga). I took off the light after doing a total tank cleaning,
and I am no waiting till the tank reaches equilibrium, and then I will
put the actinic/nutrigrow back. My question is....will the actinic help
or hurt the plants. right now, I only have a pathetic 24 watts in the
tank. Any help is appreciated.
