Monolith Controller Instability

I got an M3 duo controller and installed it.  The pH reading does not stay 
stable, it's constantly moving by a couple of hundreths every couple of 
seconds.  Is this normal?  Also, I did a water change and my tap is 
naturally alkaline.  The controller didn't like this one bit.  It immediatly 
started going crazy and the pH is now reading at 3.56 which isn't even close 
to the actual pH value of the tank. Any comments?
