Other than to remove medications and such, is there any reason to routinely have charcoal in the filter of a planted tank? I don't use it in either of my tanks. My 50-gal has an Eheim filter. My 10-gal has an AquaClear Mini with two sponges instead of a sponge and a charcoal packet. Thanks Gitte
