Ludwigia Repens and Jungle Val

Hi all,

Can any body tell me how "Ludwigia Repens" and "Vallisneria 
Americana" or Jungle Val handles trimmings. I'm more curious
on the latter. 

My jungle Val is 4-5 feet tall and I read somewhere if you trim
them they stop growing.
