I presume Sears has stores in Canada? If so, they offer a complete testing
service. If you go to the section that carries water softeners, they'll give
you a little kit which includes a bottle, a mailer container, and complete
instructions. The service used to be free of charge, but I don't know if
that's the case anymore. However, they will send you back a complete
analysis of your water (along with a recommendation for a Sears water
softener system, of course).
