Sword sending out runner

Hello everybody,

My sword plant ' E. schlueteri "Leopard' send out runners 1.5 weeks ago, and 
it stopped after 2 'nodes?!' and they're becomming plantlets 1.5 inch leaves 
right now, doing great ,

My question is what determines how many plantlets each runner will send out? 
I've seen 4 plantlets on an ozelot before i've seen more on other swords?
