Re: Green Water

After planting mostly swords and Crypts, and increasing the light intensity
over my 60 gallon, I too have experienced a battle with this problem. What
seems to be working now is a 4-5 day blackout with several water changes
during the blackout, followed by a reduced photoperiod (10.5 hours) and a
replanting of the fast growing plants that I previously removed. Hygrophilia
difformis is my fast grower of choice but there are others. The fast growing
plants help strip excess nutrients out of the water column.
