Algaecide in the hose story: My Dad has an old hose that he waters plants with daily. I don't know if phosphates are high in their water supply (Windward side of the island of Oahu, Hawaii) but you can always see globs of algae coming out of the hose after it's been sitting in the sun all day. The newer hoses don't seem to have the same problem. Wade Shimoda
