algae problem

Hi everyone,
well, my 4 month old tank is doing pretty well, thanks mostly to all of
you... I am having my first experience with a nasty algae tho. It is long
and threadlike, whitish in the water but more green when I pull it out.
Under the microscope it looks like a typical filamentous green, definatly
not a cyanobacteria. It is very unattractive because it collects small
particles of junk in the water and gets a yucky webby look. I've heard of
hair algae and thread algae; can anyone tell if this is one of those? Should
I start hunting for some SAEs? (Gitte: my algae-eating shrimp don't touch
this kind BTW!)
Thanks for any help,
Tierney
