People who tried adding undissolved chemicals directly to the water
reported that their fish tried eating the fertilizer.  In some cases
(K2SO4, for instance) I also wonder if the slow dissolution of the
chemical could lead to their sifting into the substrate and not getting
distributed in the water column as you probably want.
