re: UV light and trace elements



One other point.  Flourish and Flourish iron come in dark bottles, I
assume, because some of the compounds can break down with light (and heat
or oxygen, which is why we are told to refrigerate Flourish). SeaChem
responded to my inquiry that it is best to such products daily -- if not
taken up, some ingredients may not remain stable (one label has a once- or
twice-a-week dosage mainly because most folks have small tanks and dosing
very small quantities might be difficult).  So our u.v. may just be another
factor along with oxygen, some wavelengths of fluorescent light
(photoreduction of iron has been a thread on the list), heat, chemical
intereactions, etc.
