Corkscrew Vallisneria

Hi all,

What is the scientific name for Corkscrew Vallisneria (The short
variety)? An on-line source
had Corkscrew listed it as Vallisneria Americana with a larger variety
listed as Valliseneria asiatica.
I saw a post from D. Change that listed Jungle Vallisneria as
(Vallisneria Americana).
I went to the Tropica web page and they had a small variety of
Vallisneria listed as
Vallisneria americana var. biwaensis. Azgardens has it listed as
"Asiatica"

Growing up Corkscrew Vallisneria was one of those plants that was
carried by all of the
local fish stores. Now I can't seem to find it. I asked my local fish
store (One of the few remaining)
to order some and had to wait four weeks. What they got did not look
like the Corkscrew I remembered.
It was much too long, very thin curly leaves and no runners. I paid
$6.50 for 6 very sad
looking plants with rotting roots and that were falling apart.

I posted on rec.aquaria.freshwater.plants looking to see if anyone
wanted to trade
some Corkscrew Vallisneria for some Java Moss but didn't get any takers.

Carolina Biological has corkscrew on sale for $10.00 for 3.
Unfortunatly
they don't list the scientific name. I'll try Carolina first and if
that doesn't work out
will put an order into Azgardens (Don't really need $35.00 worth). I
hate all of those
Super Stores for driving the good local fish stores out of business. I
used to be able to
buy this plant for .29
