Pressurized CO2 tradeoffs;suppliers in metro Washington DC/Baltimore area?

Hi,
   Despite looking through the archives & the Krib, I'm still trying to
understand the differences and tradeoffs between equipment originally
intended for welding, beverages, medical, or possibly other
applications.  Any discussion?
   For those of you in the mid-Atlantic area, I'd be interested in
hearing about your setups, particularly who refills your tanks, and if
you purchased equipment within the last couple years, where and for
about how much.  If you email me off list and there are enough
responses/interest, I can summarize to the list.
