This clownfish is often confused with A. melanopus, also commonly called a tomato clown. It is generally a brighter orange, and always has a black border on the white stripe.

In the wild they are only found in Entacmaea quadricolor, or bubble-tip anemones. In captivity they will bond with many long-tentacled Pacific anemones.

Males are smaller than females. Eggs have been laid in hobbyist tanks.

As they get older, they become more aggressive and the body gets darker (almost brown/black).
